Director Chris Buti released this statement:
On Sunday, February 6th, the Rolling Meadows High School Winter Color Guard competed in another TeamDance Illinois contest, held at Stevenson High School. In the Lyrical Tall Flag Category, the RMHS squad earned the highest technical score and took 3rd place. In addition, the score of 91 earned them a state contest qualification for that routine. In the Short Flag Category, the RMHS squad earned the highest artistic score and tied for 1st place overall with Stevenson. In addition, the placement and score combination of 86.8 earned that routine a state qualification.
The Lyrical Flag routine is to the song “Glitter in the Air” by Pink. It uses lovely lavender dresses and shimmering pink flags that enhance the dance and flag choreography. The Short Flag routine is to the song “Your Call” by Secondhand Serenade. It uses simple light blue dresses that are accented by blue, cream, and tan flags. These all work in tandem with the complex drill maneuvers, intricate flag choreography, and dance.
The award winning RMHS Winter Color Guard is made up of the following team
members: Desdemona Alvarez, Christina Crusius, Angela Grande, Lisa Kawalek, Bokyung Kim, Ruth Livi, Kelsey O’Shields, Amanda Vo, and Christine Wurster. The squad is coached by Mr. Christopher Buti. The final regular season competition is at Andrew High School on Saturday, February 19. The State Contest will be held at the Peoria Civic Center on Sunday, March 6th.
