On Saturday, September 21, the Marching Mustangs competed in the prestigious Chicagoland Marching Band Festival at Wheeling High School. In the highly competitive field, RMHS came in 4th place in class AA. In addition to all the high school marching bands, the University of Illinois Marching Illini put on an exhibition performance. “It was a thrill for the high school students to see and hear a Big Ten college marching band in action,” said MM director, Christopher Buti. This year Marching Illini has three former RMHS band students: Scott Johnston on snare, Jamie Brunskill on trumpet, and Christina Crusius on clarinet. Thank you to all who were in attendance and congratulations to the Marching Mustangs! See pictures of the students in action: Daily Herald Pictures
Next up for the MM will be the St. Rita Marching Band Competition on Sunday, October 6. Volunteers are needed! Please visit the Volunteer Page and scroll down to the bottom of the page to sign up.
