Volunteers for July 4th Parades

Thank you very much for helping with the Memorial Day parade. We were a few volunteers short for that one, so we need more people to turn out for the two July 4 parades in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows.

We’re using VolunteerSpot to coordinate volunteers for the parade. It’s an on-line sign-up system that’s free (always a plus) and easy to use (most important!). All you need is your e-mail address (and your name would help, too).

Click the VolunteerSpot button to see the list of things to do and bring. Sign up for as many things as you’d like, and sign up quickly so you get your preferences. The parade’s a month awaythis weekend, but don’t worry because VolunteerSpot will automatically e-mail you a reminder two days before for the things you sign up for.

Remember to click the big red Confirm button to get a confirmation e-mail for the volunteer spots you’ve signed up for.

If you have any questions about the tasks, please contact Ken Soens or leave a comment on this post. (You’ll need to register with this Web site to do that.)

A map of the AH parade route is below. The RM parade starts in front of RMHS. Whoever signs up for the Bring doughnuts task on July 4 should also sign up for the Order doughnuts task on June 27.

Please leave comments on this post about your experience using VolunteerSpot. I hope this will streamline volunteer organization, which can be very complex, especially for events such as Jazz in the Meadows, but it has to be easy to use and helpful for everyone.

(Feel free to use VolunteerSpot for your own sign-up needs—classrooms, companies, student organizations, etc.)
