IMEA All-state Orchestra and Choir

Congratulations to Melissa Priller on Violin and Stephen Pavlakis singing bass, on being selected to the IMEA All-state Orchestra and Choir. These two talented students will be traveling to Peoria this week to re-audition and then work with other top students from around the state in these honor ensembles. Congratulations to Melissa and Stephen as being selected as some of the top musicians in the state of Illinois.

Purdue University Jazz Festival

Congratulations to all the students involved in the Jazz Band 2, Jazz Ensemble 1, and Jazz Combo on some great performances at the Purdue University Jazz Festival this past weekend. In addition, the following students were awarded Outstanding Soloist Awards: Connor Gooding on guitar and Eric Ure on flugel horn for Jazz Ensemble 1, Christine Rueger on trumpet, Tim Ellis on tenor sax, and Jonathan Freeman on bass for Jazz Band 2, and Marissa Walentschik on flute for Jazz Combo. Congratulations to the jazz students on a job well done.

Winter Color Guard RMHS Contest

Congratulations to the Winter Color Guard on their performances at the Rolling Meadows IDTA Pom and Flag Contest held here this past weekend. In both the Short Flag category and the Lyrical Tall Flag category, the RMHS Winter Color Guard outscored all of its opponents to take two first place awards. Congratulations ladies and good luck at this weekend’s large TDI regional competition at Palatine High School.

Friends of Jazz in the Meadows

If you’d like to show your support for Jazz in the Meadows and the instrument music program at Rolling Meadows High School, you can become a Friend of Jazz in the Meadows. Your name will be included in the JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS 2011 PROGRAM BOOK on the “Friends of the Festival” page.

Go to the Jazz in the Meadows page, download the Friends form and print it, enter your information, select your sponsorship level, and write a check before February 1.

Note: Your assigned purchase is due TODAY—Friday, February 4.

In keeping with tradition, we ask all band, orchestra, and color guard members to bring in refreshments for us to sell at Jazz in the Meadows. Please see your assigned refreshment below.

Please bring only name-brand soda. No off-brands.

If you are a member of both band and orchestra then bring in ONLY what you are assigned for band—NOT BOTH. If you are a member of both orchestra and color guard then bring in ONLY what you are assigned for orchestra—NOT BOTH.

  • Label your case(s) of 24 (cans for soda or plastic bottles for water) with your name so we know who brought it in.
  • If you would like to donate more than one case, we will gladly accept it.
  • If you are unable to bring in your case, please pay a fee of $10 (cash or check) and we’ll purchase it. (If you send a check, please make it payable to RMHS Music Boosters.)

The deadline to bring in your refreshments to Mr. Buti or Mr. Stewart is Friday, February 4.
