Marching Mustangs end competition season on a high note!!

On Sunday, October 17th, the Rolling Meadows High School Marching Mustangs competed in the Sandwich Musicfest at Sandwich High School. In the parade category, the RMHS ensemble captured 1st place Class AA, along with the highest music, marching, and general effect scores amongst all the bands in the contest.  In the field show category, the RMHS ensemble took 1st place Best Drum Majors, 1st place Best Flags, 1st place Best Visual, 2nd place Best Drums, 2nd place Best Music, and 1st place Overall. In addition many of these scores were the highest of all the bands in the contest. “Our goal for the kids is that every time they take the field to perform, they should make it the best performance of the season up to that date,” says band director Mr. Buti.  He adds, “Sunday’s performances definitely lived up to that goal.”

This year’s show is entitled “PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT” and includes the following musical selections:  “Construction,” “Discovery,” and “Curse of the Pharaohs.” The music is enhanced by colorful flag choreography and costuming, as well as a drum feature and intricate drill maneuvers. The performances are under the direction of student drum majors, Maddie Conlin, Joe Palmer, and Anna Tam. The Band Directors are Christopher Buti and Joshua Stewart. They are assisted with the percussion by Dan Bertermann. Camp staff included Laura Bertermann, Jonny Untch, Zach Geller, Tom Odon, TJ MItchell, and Carrie Kruschel.

Remaining performances for the award winning marching ensemble include a home football game on October 22nd and the Band-O-Rama Concert on October 27th. For more information about the RMHS Marching Mustangs, contact the Band Office (718-5752) or the website:
