JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS RECAP

cup_goldOn Saturday, February 28, 2015, the Rolling Meadows High School Music Boosters held the 30th Annual Jazz in the Meadows.  The event featured 68 schools from 5 states with 115 performances in 8 performance rooms around the school.  In addition, there was a noontime concert with Chris Siebold and PSYCLES, a jam session led by Tom Flanigan, and an incredible Grand Finale Concert to a packed gym with the top four scoring high school bands and the incomparable Gordon Goodwin’s BIG PHAT BAND.  At the end of the evening numerous awards were given out:

The outstanding soloists were:
Junior High Class – Morgan Tadish on trombone from Holmes MS
Class 1A – Michael Duling on Piano from Paxton-Buckley-Loda HS
Class 2A -Ben Moser on bass from Pattonville HS
Class 3A – Joack Coatse on trombone from Lincoln-Way North HS
Class 4A – Alec McKeska on guitar from Naperville North HS
High School 2nd Bands- Ryan Mondak on guitar from Champaign HS II
Small Combo Class- Eugene Yakubocich on Alto Sax from Wheeling HS
Large Combo Class- Pascal Pahl on trumpet and voice, Elk Grove HS Combo

3rd place- Sperreng-Truman JHS
2nd place- Holmes MS
1st place- Cooper MS

High School “Second Band” Class
2nd place- tie Mundelein HS II and John Hersey HS II
