Garage Sale, Spirit Wear and Music Booster meetings

It is the beginning of a new school year and time for a couple of important reminders.

GARAGE SALE

It’s a trip year, NEW YORK CITY here we come, and the garage sale is a great way to start making some money to pay for the trip or just build up your students personal band account for future needs. 100% of the money you earn from selling your stuff goes directly to your personal student account. Of course it does not need to all go into your student account. You can put as much or as little as you choose.

The Garage Sale is Saturday, September 5 (rain or shine, preferably shine) from 9 am to 2 pm in the RMHS front parking lot. To sign up or if you have questions, contact Jeff Ure at  garagesale@rmhsmusicboosters.com.

 SPIRIT WEAR

It’s time to order your Music Spirit Wear! Sales will end September 4th. Shirts, hoodies and even a stadium blanket are all reasonably priced. This is a great way to show support in the music program and is not just for students. Mom and Dad, order one for yourself.

 RMHS MUSIC BOOSTER MEETING – TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1

Our first booster meeting will take place on Tuesday Sept 1st at 7pm.

 Please join us for the monthly RMHS Music Booster meeting. We meet near the back of the cafeteria in the Faculty Lounge at 7pm as we begin to plan many of the new school year activities.

If you have any questions about boosters please send an email to president@rmhsmusicboosters.com or reach out to Mr. Buti or Mr. Carroll for additional information. The RMHS Music Booster work closely with the directors in helping to plan and support such things as band competitions, concerts, trips, camps and Jazz in the Meadows.

Orders are being taken and collected by Friday, September 4th. Orders and payments can be dropped off at the first RMHS Music Booster meeting of the year on Tuesday September 1st at 7pm in the teachers’ lounge. They can also be given to Mr. Buti or Mr. Carroll by Tuesday the 1st.

Volunteers Needed for Uniform Fittings

 Screen Shot 2015-07-25 at 10.39.12 AMTo prepare for the new school year, the students must be fitted for uniforms and tuxes or dresses. Since there are over 140 members of the marching band and orchestra, we need some parent volunteers to help out during band camp (Monday, August 3 through Thursday, August 6) and orchestra camp (Monday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 12).

Tasks include helping students try on uniforms and dress clothes to ensure they’re not too tight and they’re the correct length. With so many students, we need a few volunteers every day for each type of fitting. We could also really use your help if you can do minor sewing, such as hemming and sewing snaps back onto uniforms and maybe some tacking. (You can even take the work home, if you prefer.)

Please go to the Volunteer page, scroll down to Band Uniform Fittings and/or Orchestra Uniform Fittings and click the VolunteerSpot link or click one of these links: Band Fittings or Orchestra Fittings. This will take you to a list of tasks. Please sign up for as many days as you can. The listed times are when fittings will be done, but you can come and help whenever it’s convenient for you within those hours.

THEME T-SHIRTS

shirt_poloThere has been a growing interest in families wanting to purchase the MM “FAR EAST” THEME T-SHIRT.  We have some extras right now, and can place an order for more.  If you would like one, please send an email with the size(s) and quantity to Mr. Buti (chris.buti@d214.org).  The red theme t-shirts are 100% cotton and cost $15 each.  If paying by check, please make it out to RMHS.  Thanks for you support and for cheering on the MM.

SPIRITWEAR PICKUP

RMHS Booster hoodie 2014RMHS Music Spiritwear has arrived!  If you placed an order for Music Spiritwear, pickup will be available Friday night (tonight) at the football game.  We’ll have pickup at our Cookie Booth after 7 pm, and outside the band room after the game.  On Sunday, we’ll have the orders available for pickup as the students arrive for warm ups prior to the Grayslake Marching competition.  Orchestra students who are not at the gameFriday night can see Mr. Carroll for their orders.
