Support Your Marching Mustangs

flag_purpleThere are two great opportunities to see the Marching Mustangs in action this weekend. The first is tomorrow night at the home football game. This also happens to be junior high band night, so you’ll get to see and hear the future Mustang musicians.

The other opportunity is at the Knight of Champions Marching Band Competition at Prospect High School. The Marching Mustangs perform their show, Desert Winds, at 5:45. Many of the top area marching bands will be in attendance putting on terrific shows at the height of their seasons. Click the link for more specific details about the day: Knight of Champions

Volunteers for both events are always welcome and encouraged. If you are interested in helping, check the Volunteer page and sign up.

Busy Marching Mustang weekend ahead with many opportunities to volunteer

After a quiet weekend for the Marching Mustangs, our activity ramps up again this week with Junior High Band Night this Friday night, September 30, along with a football game against Prospect High School.  Then our third marching competition at Prospect High School follows the next day, Saturday, October 1.

The following week, the RMHS Music Boosters have been invited by the Athletic Boosters to join them and the other Booster organizations at the school to collect/donate food for the Homecoming Pep Rally Picnic on Wednesday, October 5.  Please consider donating food there and help the Music Boosters make a great showing with the generous spirit that we always manage to produce.

Several Opportunities to Volunteer This Week

supportThis is a busy week for the RMHS Music Department – 2 concerts and Junior High Band Night at the last regularly schedule home Football Game.  Families, we need your help!

Various positions are open, ranging from ticket sales to serving cheesecake samples to the ever-popular cookie baking at the football game!  Please consider signing up for one or more spots.  Some are as short as 30 minutes, so there is something to fit into everyone’s busy schedule!

This is a great opportunity to be a part of each of these activities and support your student’s music experience. Click on the links below to sign up.

flag_purpleFresh off of their second place finishes at Grayslake Marching Band Competition and the Chicagoland Marching Band Festival, the award-winning RMHS Marching Mustangs will host their annual Junior High Band Night on Thursday, October 2 at the home football game (Thursday is correct!). The following Sunday, October 5, the band travels to Chicago for the St. Rita Marching Band Festival. The students love an enthusiastic crowd. The show is very exciting and full of pageantry, musicianship, and karate-ography. Don’t miss your chance to see the students perform this awesome show! If you available, the boosters could also use some help at these events. Please visit the Volunteer page and scroll down to the events list to sign up.

Need Help For This Busy Week!

cup_goldThank you to all who, on Sunday, helped the Class AA Champion Marching Mustangs at the Sandwich Marching Band Competition. Thank you also to those that helped with today’s tour of the area grade schools. It takes a team of dedicated hard-working people to put on a successful performance. You are a huge part of the RMHS music program’s success.

This will continue to be a very busy week and the boosters are reaching out to you for help. This Wednesday, October 23, is the Band-O-Rama Concert and there is a need for volunteers to take tickets, take CD orders, and to work at the cheesecake sample table.

Friday, October 25, will be the final regular-season home football game and we will need volunteers to bake and sell cookies. The same night will also need greeters and servers for the Junior High Band night.

Lastly, Sunday, October 27, is the Fall Concert featuring the Jazz Bands, Orchestras, and Choirs. Volunteers are needed to sell tickets and work the concession stand.

In one short week with two concerts, a football game, competition, and tour every RMHS musical group will have publicly performed. In addition to attending these events, please consider volunteering your time to support these wonderful Mustang Musicians. As always, you can see a list of events that need volunteers on the Volunteer Page.

Junior High Band Night

Once a year, music students from the local junior-high schools come to RMHS to learn more about the RMHS music program at Junior High Band Night. This year, it’s on Friday, October 25. The students have dinner and then play the pre-football-game show with the Marching Mustangs. This is a great opportunity to encourage students to continue with music in high school. We need some volunteers to help greet them, to serve dinner, and to clean up afterwards. Please go to the bottom of the Volunteer page and sign up to help.

Volunteers will meet at the orchestra-room door off the main hallway. We’ll welcome the students to RMHS—this may be their first time at the school, and they may have some questions about the music program. Be sure to let them know all the great things going on. We’ll also enjoy delicious pizza with the students and socializing with other music parents.

All Marching Mustangs need to be at the East Practice Field with their instruments and music by 4:10 p.m. Feel free to come earlier to help with registration. You will be fed a pizza dinner. Athletes are asked to get here as soon as their practices are over (hopefully no later than 5:00 please). Please understand that this event is a big recruitment tool for our program. Your cooperation and example will help in the continued growth of the program! Thank you.
