JITM Final Stretch: Here is what we still need…

RMHS Music Booster Parents and Friends,

You have all been AMAZING in filling in these spots and getting us fully staffed for the 32nd Annual Jazz in the Meadows, now only 2 days away!  Thank you so much for all you do for the students and the entire program!
It is crunch time and we still have 30 essential time spots that we really need to have volunteers filling by Friday, if at all possible.
Here is where you can still help:

MCs/Announcers Sign Up Now!

Our MCs/Announcers serve as the face and voice of Jazz in the Meadows.  They welcome and announce each band right before it performs and help keep each competition room running on time and without issue.  If you like people and do not mind reading a prepared script to a small audience, you will LOVE this job and be amazed at how quickly your shift flies by with all the activity in your room.  Plus, this is the only position for which we offer an optional training session the night before.  Please consider volunteering in this critical role in either or both time slots.

  • 8 a.m.-noon –  We need 3 more.
  • 12:30-4:30 p.m. – We need 6 more.

Door Monitors Sign Up Now!

Door Monitors help the MCs/Announcers keep things running smoothly in each performance room by maintaining order outside the door.  Please consider volunteering in this essential role in either or both time slots.

  • 8 a.m.-noon –  We need 4 more.
  • 12:30-4:30 p.m. – We need 3 more.

Outside Security Sign Up Now!

Our Outside Security/Parking Lot volunteers greet and direct the buses as each band arrives.  Please consider volunteering in this essential role in one or more time slots here.

  • 6:30-8:30 a.m. – We would like 1 more.
  • 8:30-10:30 a.m.  –  We need 2 more – This is a very busy time.
  • 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – We need 2 more – This is a very busy time.
  • 12:30-2:30 p.m. – We need 2 more.

Cafeteria Servers Sign Up Now!

We need a couple of servers to help out during the lunch rush.  Please consider volunteering in this essential role at the time slot below.

  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – We need 2 more – This is a very busy time.

Inside Security Sign Up Now!

Inside Security/Hall Monitors lock and unlock homeroom doors for bands as they travel through the the building at JITM.  Please consider volunteering in this role in either (or both!) time slot.

  • 6:30-11 a.m. – We need 2 more – This is a very busy time.
  • 3-7 p.m. – We need 2 more – This is a very busy time.

Ticket Sales Sign Up Now!

We could still use an additional volunteer to sell tickets at the end of the day as people come in to hear the Grand Finale Concert by Jeff Coffin and the Mu’tet.  Please consider volunteering in this time slot.

  • 3-7 p.m. – We need 1 more.

Volunteer for Jazz in the Meadows – We still need your help!

Today we are featuring the Inside Security, Cafeteria Servers and Concession Sales.  There are so many great reasons to serve and be a part of the best Jazz festival in the Midwest.  Check them out below.

We also ask you to consider volunteering for more than one position during the day if you have the time (you’re already going to be there anyways, right?), and as always, we and the students thank you!

Jazz in the Meadows – 1 Month From Today – Volunteer NOW!!

Only 1 month from today on Saturday, Feb. 25, the RMHS Music Boosters will host our greatest fund-raiser of the year, the 32nd Annual Jazz in the Meadows, the largest high-school competitive jazz festival in the Midwest!

Time to Volunteer!

But we need your help!  A new SignUpGenius spot has been launched tonight that breaks down and describes all of the positions where we will need volunteer support from parents, friends and alumni of our outstanding music program at RMHS!  Here is the Jazz in the Meadows SignUpGenius link where you can sign up:

Sign Up Now!
New this year are Tabs at the top of the sign-up that divide the jobs by category, so please take the time to browse through each of the Tabs and enter your name everywhere that you are able to serve.  If you have any questions about a particular position, please contact Tom Toussaint at volunteers@RMHSMusicBoosters.com.

We will be sending out frequent reminders from now until the 25th to help get these positions filled, update volunteers on any changes and with final instructions for our work that day.

Program Book Ads

In addition, the Jazz in the Meadows Program Book includes ads from local businesses and parents who want to support the Instrumental Music Program at RMHS.  You can learn more about doing this here:

2017 Jazz in the Meadows Program Book Info

If you are interested in placing an ad, contact Mr. Buti and send your payment and information to him.  Reaching as many as 4,000 attendees, this is a great way to reach this jazz-loving audience while supporting our music students.

We look forward to our best Jazz in the Meadows yet and for all the support – both in time and treasure – that we know you will share with our students!

Jazz in the Meadows – Volunteer Planning Meeting

calendarCome join us Tuesday, November 29 at 7 pm in the South Cafeteria (back by faculty lounge) for a special Jazz in the Meadows meeting. February will be here before we know it, and we want to be prepared for a fantastic and profitable event. Everyone is welcome to join us for an intro meeting and to learn more about the event.

  • Not sure what Jazz in the Meadows is yet? We’ll give you brief facts on the largest RMHS Music Boosters fundraiser!
  • Wondering what people mean when they say JITM? We’ll help you understand what that means.
  • Your student isn’t in Jazz? Funds raised at the Jazz Festival support the Band, Orchestra, Color Guard, and Jazz Band!
  • Don’t have a lot of time to volunteer?  We have many opportunities before and during the event that only take a few hours at a time. Come learn about them at this meeting.

Please note that the RMHS Music Boosters will still meet December 6 for the regular monthly meeting.  Jazz in the Meadows logo design voting will happen at the December 6 meeting!

Please contact Christina Krawczyk with any questions regarding Jazz in the Meadows at jazzinthemeadows@rmhsmusicboosters.com

Thank you from the RMHS Music Boosters!

emotion_grinThank you to all the volunteers that came out to make the 31st year of Jazz in the Meadows a great success.  Whether you volunteered a few hours or helped out all day, it equaled a great experience for the more than 1000 young musicians who performed. It continues to show why we host one of the premiere jazz festivals in the Midwest.

This event could not take place without the help of the many volunteers who made a difference in a young performer’s life.  The Executive Committee and the Jazz in the Meadows Chairperson thank you.

The March RMHS Music Boosters Meeting will be POSTPONED until Tuesday March 8th.

If you have any questions about boosters please send an email to president@rmhsmusicboosters or reach out to Mr. Buti or Mr. Carroll for additional information. The RMHS Music Boosters work closely with the directors in helping to plan and support such things as band competitions, concerts, trips, camps and Jazz in the Meadows.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
