Holiday Concerts & Cookie Sales during Basketball Games – We need your help!

The holidays are here and the RMHS Music Boosters have several ways for you to help make our holiday concerts extra special and at basketball games to help raise funds for our many programs that support the orchestras and bands at RMHS.

The Holiday Band Concert is this Thursday, December 8, and Pep Band season begins the next night, Friday, December 9, with both the Purple and Gold bands playing for the Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Basketball Games as the Mustangs take on Wheeling.

Next week follows with the Holiday Orchestra & Choir Concert on Tuesday, December 13, and then another set of basketball games vs. Prospect on Friday night, December 16.

SPRING TRIP 2016 ANNOUNCEMENT

luggage_brown_tagA tourist lost in New York City asks a bystander, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” The bystander responds “Practice, Practice, Practice!” While it still is a classic joke, you can now change the punch line to: “Come with the RMHS Music Department on their 2016 Spring Trip!

Yes, you read that right. The RMHS Music Department 2016 Spring Break Trip will be to New York City where, among other things, we will PERFORM at the legendary CARNEGIE HALL! Built in 1891, it’s history of performances is unrivaled. I urge you to see for yourself, by visiting their website: Carnegie Hall

REFRESHMENT ASSIGNMENTS FOR JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS

basketIn keeping with tradition, we are asking all Band, Orchestra, and Color Guard Members to bring in refreshments again this year for us to sell at Jazz in the Meadows. Please see your assigned refreshment below.

****Please Note “Name Brand” soda only! Please no off brands****

If you are a Band and Orchestra or a Band and Color Guard member then bring in what you are assigned for Band ONLY–NOT both.  If you are a Color Guard and Orchestra member then bring in what you are assigned for Color Guard ONLY —NOT BOTH.

Please purchase the following according to your last name:

RMHS WINTER COLOR GUARD QUALIFIES FOR TDI STATE CONTEST!!

flag_purpleOn Sunday, January 19th, the Rolling Meadows High School Winter Color Guard competed in the TDI Regional Contest at Lake Community High School.  In the Open Flag category, the RMHS squad came in 3rd place.  In the Lyrical Flag Category, the RMHS squad came in 4th place.  More importantly, both routines qualified for the TDI State Contest to be held at the Peoria Civic Center on March 2nd.

The Open Flag routine is done to the song, “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark,” by Fallout Boy.  It incorporates black costuming, a variety of black short flags, and some vibrant tall flags with fire patterns on them.  The squad for this routine includes the following 24 members:  Amanda Abraham, Ida Ajroja, Desdemona Alvarez, Erin Crain, Daniele DeBartolo, Melisa Featherstone, Jade Fitzgerald, Lesley Garcia, Maria Garcia, Faviola Gonzalez, Sohyun Kim, Marieanne Klatt, Alex Kotowski, Meredith Lenihan, Sarah McMahon, Karina Medina, Anette Navarro, Cindy Osorio, Estevan Rodriquez, Danielle  Sioui , Jennifer Texis, Emma Werle, Kaitlyn Werle, Emily Zimmermann.

The Lyrical Flag routine is done to the song, “Let it Go,” from the movie FROZEN.  It incorporates beautiful white dresses and blue tops with fake fur fringe, snow white t-flags, and multi blue and white snowflake flags.  For this routine, there are only 14 performers, including:   Amanda Abraham, Ida Ajroja, Desdemona Alvarez, Erin Crain, Melisa Featherstone, Sohyun Kim, Meredith Lenihan, Sarah McMahon, Anette Navarro, Estevan Rodriquez, Danielle Sioui, Emma Werle, Kaitlyn Werle, and Emily Zimmermann.  The squad is coached and choreographed by Mr. Christopher Buti.  He is assisted by Ms. Caitlyn Walsh.

Upcoming performances for the State-bound squad include:  a home basket ball game on February 7th, TDI Contests at Batavia HS on February 9th and at Eisenhower HS on February 15th.  For more information about the WCG program, contact the Band Office at 847-718-5752
