¹ For the parade, have your alternate uniform available. The alternate uniform would be the purple polo shirt, BLACK dress pants (NO CARGOS), black belt, black marching shoes, and black socks. A decision will be made by Friday as to what we are wearing. This decision will be based upon the weather.

Even though we will work on it in class/practices, please work on memorizing your music or routines to SALUTE TO AMERICA and the CADENCE. This music/routine will be used for the July 4 parade and in the fall as well.

The parade is from the Rolling Meadows fire station to the Carillon Bell Tower. Directions are below (but I’m not certain that’s the actual parade route.)

If you’ve never volunteered before, it’s easy, and there will be someone at each activity to show you the ropes. That way, if you’re not a senior parent, you’ll be ready to volunteer next year. If you are a senior parent, this is your last chance to give back to the music department and the music boosters.

If you volunteer to buy some supplies (i.e., food), the Music Boosters will reimburse you. Just save your receipt and fill out the reimbursement form on the Volunteer page.

That reminds me: If you haven’t paid your Music Boosters dues yet, please write that $15 check to RMHS Music Boosters and give it to Mr. Buti.

Spunky Dunkers, Rolling Meadows

The Spring Band Concert is the final concert performance venue for the jazz program. Thus, the concert will feature performances by the Jazz Band II, Jazz Ensemble I, and both the Purple and Gold Jazz Combos. The director is Christopher Buti. He is assisted by Joshua Stewart. Some of the titles of pieces to be performed are: The Chicken, Blue and Sentimental, Who are the Captains Here, El Bandito, Haitian Fight Song, Riverscape, Boppin’ to P-Town, Sing Sang Sung, and Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano. In addition, a number of awards will be presented. Within many of the pieces, there will be numerous students improvising solos. This concert is always very fun and extremely enjoyable! The Spring Orchestra Concert is the final concert performance venue for the program. Thus, the concert will feature performances by the Orchestra and Full Orchestra. The director is Joshua Stewart. Major works by Dvorak, Bizet, and Haydn will be performed. In addition, a number of awards will be presented. This concert is always very fun and extremely enjoyable! The Spring Band Concert is the final concert performance venue for many of the band ensembles. Thus, the concert will feature performances by the Concert Band and Symphonic Band, as well as both the Beginning and Advanced Percussion Ensembles. Directors are Christopher Buti and Joshua Stewart. Some of the titles of pieces to be performed are: The Florentiner March, Preludio, Septagon, Mark Time, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Exultate, Ye Banks and Braes O’ Bonnie Doon, and To Tame the Perilous Skies. In addition, a number of awards and a slide show (honoring the seniors and showing highlights from the entire year in band) will be presented. This concert is always very fun and extremely enjoyable!

You don’t need to participate for the entire time; sign up and come by for as much time as you can. This is also a great opportunity for freshman parents to meet other parents and students (and to make sure your student isn’t strangling in an XXS shirt while clomping around in size 15 shoes all year).

Signing up is easy. Go to the Volunteer page, scroll to the bottom (further, further, all the way, there!), and look for the Uniform Fitting event on May 22-23. Click the green “Sign up” button on the right and you’ll go to VolunteerSpot to sign up. Enter your e-mail address (twice), click the date(s) you want to sign up, click the yellow Sign Up Here button, click the green Save & Close button, and finally click the big red Confirm button. You’re done! You should get a confirmation e-mail and a reminder e-mail a couple days beforehand.
